Simplicity

I’ve been going through some old pictures from this year. It’s that time of year where I get my competition prints ready for WPPI. Once I have those together I’ll post them on here for people to critique or vote on. I came across a couple pictures that I just love the simplicity of. One is on a beach north of Cairns, Australia and the other was taken on an early morning in Coeur d Alene. What I love most about photos like this is that anyone who views them can make up there own story about them. For instance the lone tree on the beach. When I shot this photo I wondered how old it was. How many high tides has it gone through? Does it really like salt water, or does it prefere fresh water? The bench has a whole different story. During the winter I’m sure it’s lonely and probably cold (Ha Ha). Summers are filled with people sitting and enjoing its views, using it’s services to have a nice lunch or a simple father son talk. Photography’s purpose besides documenting history is to tell a story about the subject being photographed. What’s your opinion?
