Mom update + workshop + Wedding updates

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I wanted to give you guys an update on my mom. She will be having a full mastectomy within the next two weeks. The fact that the Dr are doing this surgery is a great thing. It means she is getting better and they are taking the next step to making her cancer free. I will be heading down sometime next week to take care of her after surgery. I want to thank everyone for your thought and prayers, the are working!

Workshop Update

I’m also really close to announcing my photo workshops. The workshops will be focused on beginner photographers that want to learn how to take great pictures with your point and shoot camera or your DSLR camera. I will be teaching 2 classes, one for each camera type (point and shoot or DSLR). This way I can really focus on the various camera modes and settings for each. Each class will be 4 sessions and 2 hours for each session. Here is how each class will be broken down….

Day 1 – Focusing on your camera settings and shooting modes

Day 2 – Learn how to get the proper exposure, lens effects, photography rules and when to break them.

Day 3 – Photo fun day. We will head out and shoot till our hearts content. Applying the new knowledge you have obtained from the last 2 days.

Day 4 – Choose your 5 favorite photos and the whole class will do a constructive critique on them.

Keep checking back for the dates. Or email me if you want to be put on the list.

Wedding Update

I was reviewing my wedding dates and realized that I don’t not have any weddings booked for July! This is unheard of for me and I would really love to fill up those Saturdays. If you know anyone who is getting married in July and still needs a photographer please send them my way.

I thought this was a little weird

I was just looking at my weekly website stats on Google. I always like to go into the map overlay and see what countries and cities have been looking at my website. I thought my #2 viewed country for this week was a little odd…. IRAQ?

Sarah + Scott

I’m not sure how this happens but I always seem to find the coolest clients. Sarah & Scott were a blast to work with and I can’t wait for September to shoot their wedding. Check out some of these luscious images

The Last Day of June

I can’t believe its the last day of June and almost the 4th of July! Time is really flying by. Yesterday we had our first Donkey Ball tournament by lake Fernan. Overall we had a great turn out with 8 teams total. My teammate was my good friend Pete from Utah. Who always comes to visit the week before July 4th for a little R&R. Anyways, the winner’s win $50 big ones and walk away with the title of champions. Can you guess who won? Yep thats right Pete and I walked away with the championship title and a little extra cash.

Here are a couple pictures from an engagement session last week. Enjoy.

life happenings + Weddings

How is everyone doing today? I am have spring fever and going crazy that it is not here yet. I still have a foot of snow in some areas of my yard and we have not had a significant snow fall in a month or so. Maybe I should have a hair dryer party so we can go out and melt everything?

You might notice my cool new Photoshelter widget on the bottom right side of my blog. It basically just runs a little slide show of all my stock photography, which I think is really cool. Check it out if you have not done so already.

I’m getting a lot of request for my commercial work lately from various ad firms. I’m assuming it’s because business are really starting to pump up their marketing due to the slowing economy. Today I will be shooting  fashion images for a new boutique for men in Coeur d Alene. I’ll post some images from it tomorrow.

My last note is about weddings. I have about 5 openings left for weddings this year. If you know anyone who’s getting married please let them know I have some open slots. I would like to get these spots filled soon so I can plan the rest of my work year asap.

I thought I would do demonstration a before and after from the 14th & Grand shoot. I always try to keep my fashion images clean and real. Meaning, I hate to over retouch the face and eyes. When images are over retouched I believe they look cheap and very unprofessional. Keeping the skin and it’s texture adds realism and professionalism. Thats just my two cents.

Before

I first cleaned up the random hairs, retouched her skin and juiced up the eyes a bit. Thankfully Julie from the make-up studio did an awesome job on the makeup. Which saves me about 20 minutes of retouching the face alone. I then added a little contrast to make the image a little more dramatic.
