The picture above is from Christmas Eve in Jaco, Costa Rica. I know I still have more to post on the trip and I will in the near future. I posted this picture because with all this snow, warm weather sure does sound nice.
WOW, the snow just keeps coming. I have about 2+ feet in my yard and wishing I had a snowblower! If you live close by and have one please come help me out! Sat. and Sun. we are expecting more snow!
I’m headed to Salt Lake City with my girlfriend Stacey. Her dad is not doing well so were headed down to help for a couple days. Our original plan was to head to Portland this weekend but these plans changed once we got word of her dads condition. We are leaving tomorrow and driving so wish us safe travels. I’m not sure what day we are coming back but I will keep you posted. I am excited to be in SLC and see some of my friends. They have also been getting pounded with snow and I cant wait to get some Utah powder under my feet. So to all my friends in Utah, save me a couple fresh lines would ya!
I’m just going to throw this out there. Wedding bookings have been slow and I’m assuming its the economy and “fears” of hard times to come. I do have some openings still and if you know anyone getting married please send them my way. At this rate it seems like I will be doing a lot more commercial work. I already have a good amount of commercial work booked for the summer and I’m very excited to shoot these jobs. This work is a blast because there is a lot of planning and a “vision” the art director try’s to portray to me. Then its up to me to take all that info and create amazing images. I’m still working on the commercial site and it’s become a bigger project than I expected. I keep finding more jobs and pictures that I need to add to it. But once its up it will be sweet! You will see lots of pictures that you have never seen from SWP. Not only that but you will also see how imagery can make an ad campaign or catalog really pop!

Well I’m still under the weather but its finally warming up in good old Coeur d Alene. Right now its 19 degrees and sunny. We are supposed to get more snow this weekend! Which is good because Schweitzer got hammered with the wind last weekend and made that place as hard as concrete!
Looks like some of us could be getting up to $600 from the government. Woohoo! I cant understand how the government believes that by giving people money is going to stop a recession. I’m assuming the government thinks we are going to use that money to go buy goods from retailers? Personally I hope people spend that check on their wedding photographer (hint hint). Unfortunately I doubt that people are going to spend that money in the economy. I would assume most would use it to pay off debt or save it for a rainy day. Some might even use it to pay their taxes for 2007. Personally I’m gonna buy some gold. Maybe even a gold tooth, that way I can actually be wearing something that makes me money. How cool would that be? The downside to getting this money is that we won’t even see it till June. Why? Simply because the checks would be coming from the IRS. When is the busiest time for the IRS? Yep, you guessed it right now! Its tax season and they need to collect their money first and be able to pay the people who get refunds first. They wont be able to start printing those checks until June and will that be to late? I wonder how much gold will be then?

I’ve been battling a cold for a couple of days and today it finally hit me. I felt pretty good this morning for my meeting, then about an hour after the sickness hit me hard! To be honest I think this is the first time I’ve been sick since I started my business 2.5 years ago! So I will be resting today, drinking theraflu (love that stuff) catching up on my book keeping and getting some print orders out.
How about these candidates running for president. On the Republican side you have 4 people with no clear front runner. I guess whomever has the most money to last these primaries will be the ultimate chosen one. What do you think?
Then you look at the Democratic side and you have two people who will be “the first”. Meaning we have Hillary who could be the first woman president and Obama who could be the first African American president. How crazy is that? Who would have thought that the first possible woman president and the first possible African American president would be running against each other? Oh yea, who’s the third guy running? lol
Not only do we have the president’s race but we also have the possibility of a recession coming. Is it going to happen? My guess is yes. Would this turmoil that’s going on now in the world stock markets even be happening if the media didn’t talk about it 24/7? Sometime I wonder.
One thing that I strongly believe in is getting out of this war. I was a big supporter of the war in the beginning. As time went on more soldiers were dying and no chemical or biological weapons were found. I began wondering if I was lied to or even bigger if our whole country was lied to! I would then meet soldiers who spent time in Iraq and I would ask them what its really like over there. One questions I would ask was,
” What do most of the people in Iraq think of you guys being there”?
Answer,
” Almost all of them are happy we are there. They kids hug us and the people come and thank us for helping them. They lived in fear of Saddam most of their lives and now they don’t have to worry about him anymore. But at the same time these people who thank us also kill us”
I was shocked to hear that from him and very confused. I asked ” can you explain that further”?
” well I was in one town where everyone gathered around our convoy and were cheering because we were now there to protect them. Then the following day we were taking on gun fire. Once it ceased I then realized the people that were now dead were the people thanking us yesterday. ”
Can you believe that? Where does this “policing in Iraq” end?
Lets talk about the cost of this war. Here are some facts that might blow your mind!
1. So far we have spent 600 billion on the war.
2. We spend an average of 195 million a day in Iraq .
3. President Bush is asking for another 200 billion for 2008 alone! That’s 800 billion!
4. This does not count how much we have spent on the Afghanistan war! By the way where is Bin Laden?
I can go on with the numbers but I think that is enough. Not only that but these numbers don’t even take into account the health care needed for the so far 50,000+ seriously injured soldiers. These soldiers are going to need help the rest of their lives, how much is that going to cost?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m in full support of our troops and wish no more harm to any of them. But the meaning and purpose of this war is over! 800 billion could have been used to make our countries soil even safer. We could apply this money to provide health care for our citizens, give it to our schools, pay our teachers more and more importantly get the value of our dollar back! Our country is spending way more than it makes and in order for our dollar to gain value again, we have to become profitable again.
I’m sure I’m going to get tons of hate mail from this. But its my opinion and my blog and I can say and believe in what I please.
I would love to hear your thoughts on these subjects.
Now its time for my nap.

I’ve been in Sandpoint, ID house sitting for my girlfriend and working on finishing my commercial website. A friend of mine who lives up here said I should come and check out the keg pull at Ichards (Spell?).
This is a classic event and should be on doggy ESPN. Basically the bar closes down the alley next to them. They fill the alley with snow and have 4 different keg sizes depending on the size of the dog. The dog with the fastest time wins! So you know the kegs are empty, that was my first question as well.
Here are some pictures from the event.
